The Siersza Power Plant in Trzebinia is a part of The Southern Power Concern S.A. Katowice since 2001. It is situated in the north-western part of the Malopolska Voivodeship in the Trzebinia administrative territory and was constructed between 1962-1970 as a system power plant. It consists of six coal-fired boiler power units with total installed power 740 MW. The Power Plant produces electric energy which is evacuated to the national grid along 110 and 220 kV lines as well as thermal energy which is intended for local residents.

The power plant was designed to burn coal with a high sulfur and ash content. It burnt the fuel according to its design till the 90s.

The dynamic industrial development in Chrzanow-ska Ziemia at the beginning of the 20th century resulted in an increasing demand for electric power.
