The Siersza Power Plant in Trzebinia is a part of The Southern Power Concern S.A. Katowice since 2000. It is situated in the north-western part of the Malopolska Voivodeship in the Trzebinia administrative territory and was constructed between 1962-1970 as a system power plant.

Units with OFz-425 fluidized bed combustors (new ones)
An important stage of the accepted project (which is to be executed) included in the environmental protection investment programme is the revitalisation of power units 1 and 2.
In order to achieve a high efficiency of power units the solution to use coal-fired fluid boilers with a secondary steam heater has been accepted. These are the first boilers of this type and of this efficiency to be built in Poland. They work with the modern 16CK145 turbine and an air-cooled generator and create a system of units of exceptionally high efficiency up to 42 %.
Boilers 1 and 2 - OFz-425 boilers equipped with an atmospheric fluid bed furnace with a circulating bed designed by Fabryka Kotłów RAFAKO SA together with the EVT company.
The fluid boilers of the sytem allow the use of a so-called, complex method of environmental protection. In this method, in the combustion process calcium compounds are added to the bed furnace to reduce the emission of sulfur compounds up to 90-95%. The low combustion temperatures (800-900°C) reduce the emission of carbon oxides, sulfur oxides, hydrogen chloride, hydrogen fluoride, heavy metals and carbon oxide. The boiler also allows the burning of interior coal and coal sludge of low heating value and high ash content. Moreover, it also allows the burning of industrial and municipal waste. Burning coal in boilers with a circulating fluid bed is possibile with the increased efficiency of the bed furnace.
