Digital Automation Systems
According to the programme of the plant's gradual restructuring, the following buildings within the automation system have been modernised so far: Power units 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6, the coal procurement system, the ash removal and slag removal systems, the sulfur removal system, heat stations 1, 2 and 3 of the power units and 6 kV general purposes switching stations as well as 110/220 kV switching stations.
Computerised automation systems have been implemented. They consist of freely programmable FPC 405, FPC IPC controllers produced by FESTO, Simatic S5 and S7 produced by Siemens, SF2, SF3, and CPX type valve islands manufactured by FESTO, UNIMAT M turbine regulators manufactured by IASE, Digitric P digital regulators produced by Hartmann&Braun and VIP visualisation systems of the FESTO company.
Registering of technological parameters and reporting has also been introduced. There is a possibility of using the stored data and online data to calculate technical and economic parameters and to present them.
Constant measurement of waste gas pollution emission has been introduced for each of the six power units. Furnace gas analysers produced by Maihak, DMS emission computers produced by Durag and ASIX visualisation systems produced by ASCOM are used. Due to the high complexity of technological processes of the fluidized bed combustor at unit no. 1 and 2, the Damatic Xdi dispersed system has been applied (with a DNA Historian data server) of the Metsa Automation company, cooperating through digital communication connections with the following systems: turbine regulator Advant AC 160 of the ABB company, electrostatic precipitator EPIC II of Alstom, 6 kV transmission protection CZAZ of the ZEG company, sludge system Simatic S7 manufactured by Siemens.
Computer systems of all automated buildings in the operational station are interconnected through the plant's computer network to the SAT technical analysis system which performs the tasks of process parameters registration, technical and economic indices calculation, reporting and presentation, as well as to the VIPWIN system superior system providing for online visualization of working parameters of the modernized facilities.
To increase the regulatory abilities of auxiliary devices the transmission systems of fans and pumps has been modernised with the use of systems inventors systems.
